Concept
This Directory is designed to facilitate communication regarding innovative approaches to teaching and learning in medical education. We encourage sharing ideas about major innovations and minor refinements. It is especially valuable to see that many of the innovations in this first iteration involve the innovative use of technology. By sharing educational innovations and discussing them in a public forum, we wish to provide a resource for educators who want to incorporate innovative ideas into their teaching.
Design & Use
The directory is set up so that anyone can easily add their own innovation. This includes tried and tested innovations by educators. It may also attract ideas and input from students along the continuum of medical education, who have either experienced the specific innovation or have a suggestion from the learners perspective. The threaded discusion is viewed by category, and allows multiple innovations to be discussed in detail.
The infrastructure is designed to allow public as well as one-to-one communication regarding innovations. For example, post a public response could be used to plan data collection and analysis regarding the comparative effectiveness of approaches, thus adding to the body of Best Evidence Medical Education.
To post a new innovation, go to the main listing, and scroll to the bottom. Click on "post a new innovation". Simply fill in your information, and once you send it, your innovation will be visible. Your computer will remember who you are to make it easier next time you want to contribute. (using browser cookies)
Email Feedback
We want to improve the Directory so that it is truly useful and friendly. We are particularly interested in refining the category list so that it is as complete and useful as possible. If you would like to participate in this task, let us know.
