AACOMAS Applicant data
AACOM's centralized application service (AACOMAS) collects comprehensive data on almost all osteopathic medical school applicants. All information from the AACOMAS application form is captured and entered into the AACOMAS Masterfile for the academic year. This provides complete demographic information on each applicant including undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools attended, courses taken and grades, military and employment history, MCAT and GPA scores, and a record of the osteopathic medical schools applied to. When the schools accept an applicant, and when an applicant matriculates, AACOM is notified and enters this information into the applicant's Masterfile record.

Applicant data is also used in the Annual Report on Osteopathic Medical Ed.

Graduate Medical Education Data
- Osteopathic Training Institutions
A survey was initiated for the 1996-97 academic year to collect data on all D.O. interns and residents training in institutions sponsoring osteopathic graduate medical education programs. Survey forms are mailed in August/September to the Directors of Medical Education (DMEs) at the institutions identified in the AOA Yearbook and Directory. The DMEs are requested to collect the data from each training program at the institution and return the forms to AACOM where they are added to the data base. Starting in 1997, this survey was conducted with the cooperation and collaboration of the Association of Osteopathic Directors of Medical Education (AODME).
- Allopathic Training Institutions
To obtain a complete picture of D.O.s in graduate training programs, information is needed on D.O.s training in allopathic residency programs. For the past several years the AMA has provided these data which it collects on its annual survey of all allopathic residency programs.
